Right age for sex

Me and my boyfriend have been together for almost a year (hitting one year in march). He is amazing and we’re just like each other personality wise. We have been sexually active together but are both virgins, we’re planning on doing it for the first time on valentines day (cliche, I know). My parents are religious and strict when it comes to relationships, my mom considered hugging the second day of our relationship ‘too early’. I am sixteen turning seventeen this June, he is seventeen turning eighteen this June. He told me he’d wait years if he has to so he isn’t pressuring me into anything. When we started being sexually active (april last yesr) he let me start being sexual with him instead of him randomly putting his hands in my pants. We both see a future and want to be each other’s first and last. I am the one who is slowly starting to feel more mature and ready for the next step in our relationship, I’m just scared and stressed of the whole ‘right age’ thing, not even of the actual sex itself. I talked about it with my bestfriend and will talk about it with her mother aswell soon because I need a mother figure who is open about sexuality talk with me (my mom gets angry it and is too embarrassed to talk about it with me sadly). My best friend told me that I am mature and ready when I feel it myself. I guess society is more scary than sex itself in my opinion. What are you guys’ thoughts? I’m sorry for the long post, this is my first post haha.

And yes we will use protection (condoms)!! I am not having unprotected sex anytime soon thats for sure :).
