5 weeks later..

My original due date was the 17th Jan 2018. My baby boy was born on the 30th December 2017.

I had an appointment with the consultant on the 27th and was in to be induced on the 29th Dec. I called in the morning at 7:30 as I was told to see when they wanted me to come in, I was told to call back later which I did and still there were no beds for me. Eventually at 4 o’clock they called me back to say to come in at 6pm. I can’t even explain my emotions, I knew I’d be meeting my baby boy some day soon. Little did I know it would be the next day/morning.

The birth couldn’t have gone any better- I had the pessary inserted at 9:30pm on he 29th and was stressing to the midwife now nervous/scared I was. I was told not to worry as it’s not very lucky that anything would happen that night. Well an hour and a half later I started getting contractions, not very strong at all but they were there! I didn’t sleep a wink all night. Come 7 o’clock in the morning, I called my mum to come in as contractions were stronger and closer together. They checked to see how many centimetres dilated I was but apparently I wasn’t dilated but I was fully effaced. My waters were broke around 8ish and everything sped up from there. They got me to walk to the delivery room around 9ish whilst in active labour (I wish someone could have carried me) he midwife suggested the epidural thing (the one where you can still get up and walk) as I was so tired and could barely keep my eyes open🙈 and obviously she didn’t think I was dilated at all! As they were putting the needle in my back I felt my body pushing!! I told the midwife and she didn’t believe me at all and said I wasn’t ready to push yet! I told her I can assure you that I need to push! So she got me to lay down so she can check on my next contraction and she shouts “I can see a head” I replied with “I told you!!” From there it all happened so quickly and at 11:25am the most perfect little boy appeared on my chest! He needed oxygen but was back within 5 minutes. My little love weighed 5lbs 6oz and I couldn’t be more in love!

I had the best midwife and support system!

I even got my sister to record the birth! I watch it back all the time and it’s the most amazing thing.
