How long did you store baby toys and clothes?

Question

So we've had twins, and I don't know if i want a 3rd or not, so I'm thinking about what to do with their baby toys, play mats, books, clothes, cribs, bouncers...everything...once they've outgrown them. 
I have a good friend who is pregnant with her first, and another good friend who is trying very hard to get pregnant with her first. I feel that they are hoping to get my babies' hand-me-downs, which I originally thought was a good idea....
But now I'm thinking it over more seriously, and I realize that many people save all their babies' stuff for years and years...just in case. We were "unfortunate" to have to buy all our babies' toys, clothes, and big items brand new, so I also wince a little at the thought of just giving them away. 
So what did you do about storing or giving away your baby items that they've outgrown? For those that stored them even though you weren't sure you'd have another baby, what were your reasons? 
Am I being selfish to not want to give away their outgrown belongings?
Storage space isn't an issue. I just feel like I have a little pressure to donate my babies' things to my friends since they assume 2 is all we want....I think. In my circle, 2 kids is max.

Our son is six and a half, I’m due February 19th with his sister. We saved quite a few of the bigger items: swing, high chair, baby monitor. I also saved all of my favorite outfits from NB to what he’s wearing now. We definitely were not sure that we wanted another baby (more so me than my hubby) but she is our last! So never say never, because I really didn’t think we would but I’m glad to have the bigger items because I don’t think we would have gotten them at her baby shower this go round and we certainly couldn’t have bought all new ones. I’ll never be able to part with my sons outfits, it’s a sentimental thing for me. And I’m sure I’ll hold on to her things like I have with his. But after she outgrows the larger items, we will be selling them this time around. As for you friends I would just explain that you aren’t sure that you all are finished expanding your family. They should understand! I don’t feel like anyone should expect baby items for free unless it’s a brother or sister though. Baby items are very expensive and whether or not your using them, selling them could go towards things they need in their next stage.

Maybe you can give some items to your friend, tell her that you are going back and forth about having a third and if you do end up having another one that you would like to have some of the items back? I don’t know if that would be weird but if someone told me that I’d be okay with it. Maybe give them some smaller things to keep and just the bigger things ask to borrow back in the event you have a third?

I saved all my baby stuff. I’m pregnant with #3 and I’m almost 80% sure it’s our last. My brother will be trying soon so I will give him all of our stuff. We had a boy and a girl so we have stuff for both genders. But if I was going for a 4th I would keep my stuff. It’s not being selfish. You bought the stuff it’s yours to do what u want with.

my sister in law charged me around $100 for the crib and change table. and probably another $100 for all the clothes, potty, jumper, toddler bed. she was done having kids, and was just happy to get it out of their house. 
if I were you, id tell them you aren't sure if you're done, and keep some of the bigger items, or just say you'll lend it to them if they need. 
I'd probably charge them something, like maybe half price on the crib and change table, especially if you bought them brand new. that's still saving them lots of money! the toys and clothes I'd probably just give away, or super cheap.
I'm probably going to give my brother and his wife everything when I'm done. they aren't even thinking, of thinking, of having kids. We are having three, and I'm on my second.

We have a three bedroom house and my twins share a room so one bedroom was open for storing baby things. Now I'm pregnant with #3 and I am SOOO happy I still have all the things I saved!! If I didn't have the extra bedroom to store it I would have went through it all and chose what I REALLY wanted to keep and put it in my bedroom closet or store in my mother's spare room or perhaps rent a small storage locker as inconvenient as that is. I suggest you keep what you can if you plan to have another. I have twin boys and a girl on the way and I'm soo relieved with all the things I don't have to buy again.

Hubby and I️ struggled to have our little bean, fertility problems, preeclampsia, Bell’s palsy and the list goes on. We def want another but we’re scared. In the mean time we’re saving everything up in our attic and if we decide it’s best to just not try again then I’ll give them away to charity.
