I’m feeling like the worst mother in the world.
My son is two months old today. I was cuddling with him on the couch and decided to get his last bottle ready so I could put him to bed. I laid him on his stomach in the middle of the ottoman so that his face was towards the edge.
He kicked a couple times and got too close to the edge so I scooted him back a little and went to the kitchen.
It takes 1.5 minutes to microwave the water that warms his bottle. In less than half that time I heard a thud and him screaming.
I picked him up off the floor and my husband ran down the steps.
He screamed until I fed him and then my husband went to bed. I burped him several times during his feeding and he seemed a little disinterested and didn’t finish the bottle.
Then he projectile vomited all over me and himself. I changed both of us and we went to the er where he was observed for an hour.
As expected we were questioned about how it happened because he shouldn’t be rolling yet and they suggested that one of my dogs could have knocked him off. (The dogs were in a separate gated off room, and I never told him we had dogs but the rn I used to work with did). I had to go over the exact positioning of him and how he was kicking because he was getting hungry, hence me being in the kitchen making a bottle. I understand that he was doing his job but he just made me terrible for doing the right thing by bringing him in.
Someone please tell me that I’m not the worst mother in the world and that something similar happened to you.
