How did you know you were ready for baby #2?

My son is 15 months old, and is absolutely the light of my life. He's so smart, and so sweet to everyone. Watching him grow up is beyond beautiful and also kind of makes me sad, because it's happening so fast. my husband and I want to try for baby number 2 this year, but I'm struggling with the idea. As much as I want another, there is a part of me that feels guilty. I know with a second baby, my son won't be the center of attention anymore. We won't be able to devote all of our time just to him. Of course, as his mom, I feel he deserves the best of the best and I can't help but question, is it fair to him?

There was no thought in it I just knew. It feelt like something I need. No questions about it.

I am so happy to know Im not the only one feeling this way. We started ttc again when my son was about 14mo and got pregnant when he turned 17mo. I went through so many emotions it was crazy. I’m excited and terrified and sad and euphoric. The pediatrician says since he should be turning two right before the baby is born he should have enough independence to not feel left out, but I’m still nervous about it. In my heart I know everything will be okay, but I know that first month is going to be super nerve wrecking. 😂😅

I always imagined myself with 2, but my husband imagined himself with 1. When we had my son, I was very overwhelmed by owning a business and taking care of the baby/household. I couldn’t imagine 2 anymore... and didn’t want another at all. I just gave in to his vision. I imagined the idea of being pregnant again and it made me feel more fear than anything else. 
Now my son is almost 2, and I’m not sure when it changed, but it has. Maybe I’ve just gotten more sleep, or we have found our stride as parents, but I’m so much happier and when I think about my son’s future - if something were to happen to my husband and I ... I could not imagine leaving him in this world without a sibling. I have my sister and she’s everything. She’s the only person who knows exactly why I am who I am, what experiences formed me (and vice verse). I want that for my son. Obviously I want him to be married, with children and a family of his own one day... but what if something happened to me before that happened? I love him so much. I couldn’t leave him in the world alone. That’s been the biggest push. We are selling our house and moving out of state now, and will likely begin trying when my son is 3.
