Selfish?

So my best friend and I have both been TTC for awhile (me longer than her). Well she got pregnant, had a girl, and asked me to be godmother. My question is, am I being selfish when I told her I would think about it? When she first asked,I thought I was going to throw up. It felt like she was throwing it in my face. I know I'm sensitive when it comes to babies but I never thought I would react like this instead of just being happy for her.

Honestly yes it does sound like you are being a bit of a spoiled brat. Sounds like she is trying to honour you as her best friend and include you and you are too jealous about her getting pregnant before you to share in her joy. I understand you are aching for a baby and that it is hard to watch her enjoy the thing you have been trying for ...for so long...but trying to snuff out her candle doesn't make yours shine brighter. If you are truly her friend...be happy for her.

I think she is just trying to share her motherhood with you if that makes since. you want to be a mom and she's trying to give you the option of at least a godmother and goddaughter's bond.

My best friend JUST found out she was pregnant. We have tried longer. It stings, but I am thrilled for her and I can not wait to hopefully have a baby and they get to be close! AND, I can't wait to be an Auntie again! I know the emotion is RAW and it hurts but deep down you're happy for her! You're just sad for you! I'm in the same boat!

selfish... yes... but you have every right to your feelings. know that it will soon pass. it's only tempary. soon you will be able to announce your pregnancy and maybe she could be the God mother of your child.

you're calling her your best friend so you should know her character and heart. it wasn't a race so she shouldn't get the cold shoulder just because she gave birth first. I know it's hard to see someone so close get their prayer answered first,but try to be there for her like hopefully she would be there for you.
