Is it possible to start period before sugar pills?

This is my first month on the pill. I have four more regular pills left (so I’d take my first sugar pill on Sunday). I’ve been having brown discharge/spotting which I know is a normal side effect of the pill. But today it’s become red. Last night my boyfriend and I did do some stuff, so I guess that could’ve had an effect too. It’s still not super heavy, or really enough to call a flow yet. Is it possible it could be my period starting? Or just spotting still?
