anyone else told no US till first ob apt?

So the office told me that I wouldn't get an ultrasound till first ob apt. which isn't till start of 2nd trimester. my first apt with np is next week I'll be atleast 8 weeks along. no spotting but just cramping. I have PCOS and Fibromyalgia so just concerned if anyone else has had this? I keep seeing all these first trimester ultrasounds and I just want to see my little baby.

My doctors office doesn’t do ultrasounds until 12 weeks which I thought was werid because my cousin was pregnant last year and she said she got an ultrasound the first visit. I guess it depends on the doctors office

Most doctors won’t do an ultrasound until 12 weeks. Until then, there’s really not much to see. They may make an exception if there’s any reason to be concerned, for example they thought I might have been having an ectopic so I had a scan at only 5 weeks, turns out it was ovarian cysts instead so I had to have a follow up scan at 7 weeks to find out if they were getting any worse. So I had 2 scans before 12 weeks, but there was really nothing to see in terms of the baby. There was literally just this tiny little smudge on the screen, it was actually quite disappointing. You could always go to a private ultrasound clinic and get an early scan, but again there’s really no point because you can’t see anything until about 12 weeks anyway

It just depends on the office. My dr did the scan at 8 weeks to confirm my pregnancy & I didn’t get the 12 week scan. My next one will probably be around 20 weeks

Every doctor's office is different, mine happens to do one every appointment. Everything is in-house so you start with an ultrasound and then go to your OB appointment then blood work if necessary. I also have fibromyalgia and another chronic pain related diagnosis and it puts me in the 'high risk' pregnancy category because of my medications etc.
