Breastfeeding loss...
ever since day 1 in the hospital my baby had a hard time latching. He would do it, it would just take a couple times. the lactation consultant told me my nipples weren't erect enough to feed him and gave me a tool to help get them to pop out. But soon after 1 feeding he would let go because they went back down. We have been struggling with latching the past couple days but he would feed for a couple minutes and then be done. The nights had been horrible, crying and couldn't latch and even when he did he would only feed for 10-15 minutes. I've tried everything. We recently took him to get his newborn photos done and the photographer could tell he wasn't getting enough from me. I was devastated and broke down. We tried to get him to feed but he refused. even at the help of someone else I couldn't get him to eat. My baby wasn't getting enough food from me and that resulted in long sleepless nights and breastfeeding jaundice. I decided to try and pump instead when we got home to feed him and only a drop came out... I felt so helpless. I had no idea this whole time, even when he was feeding for 40 minutes, that he was only getting a couple drops from me. I finally gave him a bottle and I've never seen this baby so relaxed and happy. I wanted to continue my breastfeeding journey but not at the sake of starving my baby waiting for my milk to come in. I have a healthy baby who is getting better because of my decision. 👌
