Weird Situation?

I have this ex that I dated in high school for about 6 months and we were friends way before we started dating. Fast forward to now, we are both married but he just found out that his wife cheated on him while he was away in the Army. He also admitted to me that he attempted suicide and is depressed. The past couple of days he’s been updating me on his divorce and changes he’s making to distance himself from her. My husband thinks it’s weird that he texts me but I sort of get it because I’m not directly involved in his life in any way. Am I alone in thinking it’s not weird?
