IVE LOST HIM ? URGENT ADVICE PLEASE

So I was talking to this guy, and we’d said we fancied each other. Me, a very cold person, actually began opening up to him and it all felt so right! He wanted me so much and cared and we were so close to a relationship. Then a mate of his who I think likes me found out about it all and threatened to hurt him and then he turned to me that he wasn’t ready for a relationship, I had to found out he had been threatened by someone else as he didn’t even tell me. I’m just frustrated and confused and upset. Because now he says he can’t have me and we are better off as friends. I’ve mentioned the whole mate thing to him but he refuses to give me a proper answer why he left. I’ve spoken to his friend and he’s apologised and backed away but he still won’t budge. I’m just utterly so disappointed and heart-wrenched. Any ladies willing to give advice on how to get him back to how he was before ?! I know it sounds silly but I’m so desperate ! And because I’m just so cold I end up bitter in conversation with him !
