Mental Illness help-relationships
So my boyfriend mentioned in passing that he’s taking lithium as prescribed . Should I talk to him about it and make sure he knows that I support him and will never judge him? We haven’t talked about it since he told me and things are currently normal between us and I don’t want to disrupt the normalcy between us with this convo because I was going to confess my past diagnoses with bipolar disorder as well. I’ve been off meds for two years and I’ve been managing well off of it so I didnt feel a need to bring it up. We talk openly in our relationship and I dont want him to think I was lying to him. He’s also a very logical guy so he might think two people with the same disorder in a relationship is bad and break it off but he’s also sensitive and he does love me very much. I also dont want him to blame my actions or words, whether is be me talking normally or us arguing, on my disorder when thats not the case. I am not my disorder so I dont want him to confuse my naturally silly personality with my disorder. Ive had that happen to me in the past and it’s incredibly hurtful.
