Sick and breastfeeding? Ftm an need advice 😩

I️ recently just gave birth on the 6th. I️ was in labor for 6 hrs pushed her out in 12 mins. I️ was getting stitched up for over 2 hrs . My doctor said I️ ripped internally really bad an my vagina is really sensitive so every time she touch something it would tear too.... I️ was released from the hospital on Thursday had to go into the office Friday to do blood work. Got my blood work back today and my white blood cell count was really high. So she sent in antibiotics for me to take and my temperature is currently 99.4 ... should I️ continue to breastfeed or give her formula while I️ recover ??

As long as doctor hasn’t told you something otherwise, continue to breast feed. It will help build up baby’s immunity.

Did your doc say the antibiotics are safe to take while breastfeeding? Most medications are. But if you're just worried about breastfeeding while sick, it is totally okay to breastfeed while you're sick. Your breast milk will pass on antibodies to your baby so baby doesn't get sick too which is really cool.

So sorry you had to go through all of that! Keep breastfeeding is my best advice. I had mastitis (was on antibiotics) when my daughter was only 12 days old. Had a fever for 4 days on and off of 102+. Absolutely miserable and my husband worked an hour and a half away. Just power through it if you can. It will be better for your supply and you won’t have to worry about your baby not wanting to return back to the breast. If you can’t it’s not the end of the world. Baby being fed is the most important thing. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you can’t nurse them. Hope you feel better and try drinking lots of water to keep your supply while you are sick. ☹️ hope you feel better!
