PMS or PMDD?

Liz

Looking for a little insight into what the actual difference is from a first hand perspective. I’ve always gotten a little angry the week before, some bloating, headache etc. But this passed year since I’ve turned 30, I’ve been getting really depressed, lots of crying, hopelessness, isolation myself. It’s confused the hell out of me because it seemed to be fairly sporadic, not constant and without cause. Now I’m noticing a pattern in my cycle. It’s worse the week following ovulation. I’ve been reading that’s when there is a spike in progestin which can cause depression. Progesterone was also the main ingredient in a birth control I’m familiar with and had the same depressed feelings while I was taking it. It all seems to fit, but I’m curious about others experiences. Is it just pms, PMDD or something else?
