Dinner then bedtime or vice versa?

Do you eat dinner before or after you put your LO to bed?

We have dinner together as a family at 5:30. Then our daughter goes to bed at 6:30.

I don’t get home until 5:30, and bedtime is at 7, so no time to cook, eat, and do his whole routine.

We normally all eat together at 5:30-6pm and than she gets a bottle at 7:45pm and is asleep around 8pm 👍🏻👍🏻

depends what we are having for dinner if its a roast he has with us or if its something else he can have but if we have a takeaway or something that will need spoon etc he cant have that so we feed him first then an hour or so later he has his bottle and bed straight after around 730-830pm then we have ours

Depends on the day. My partner can work until 8:30pm some nights. My daughter (8mths) eats around the same time every day (5-6pm). I very rarely eat before she does. Lately I have not been eating dinner until she’s in bed at 7:30-8pm. The other night I even cooked a full meal (peanut chicken and coconut rice) and we ate at 10pm.

I work in the afternoon/evening because I teach violin. Usually, I get home around bedtime (although I miss around 3 a week). So, we usually eat after because she has to go right to bed. I ask my husband to eat a snack with her and she eats with our sitter. Consistency with eating times are definitely challenging for us.

I’d love to do dinner together but it just never works out. By the time we get home from work at 4 and get some things done around the house it’s already 5 and my son eats dinner and then we play with him to get some energy out before his bedtime at 645. So typically my hubby will make dinner while I’m putting our son to bed and we eat once he goes down.
