hospital visitors?

does anyone else NOT want visitors in the hospital... with my daughter I had a parade of people come see me. With her I had said I atleast wanted the first hour to ourselves, but then my sister really wanted to sneak in quick since she had to go and then everyone else followed in with her... and it was fine but with this baby I'm just so nervous and would prefer that time with just me and my husband and our daughter with the baby.. am I being unreasonable saying I don't want people to come visit?

With my first I had no visitors until I was home and relaxed even then it was on my terms. People should respect that but make it known.

I don’t think its too much to ask. I am thinking of doing something similar this time around. We only wanted our parents at the hospital at first. When my son was born he wasn’t breathing and they took him to suction out his lungs. Meanwhile I still had to be stitched up. Just after that, my dad came in and told me that everything was okay and that my sons father, my MIL and my SIL (who wasn’t even supposed to be there but my MIL picked her up)  were in there with him. I was PISSED. Nobody except my sons dad should have been in there. I hadn’t even gotten to HOLD MY BABY YET, and these bitches already had photos of him. It totally ruined my experience. This time we’ll only be telling my dad, as he will be watching my son while I’m in the hospital. Other than that, everybody else can wait until Dad and I have had at least a couple hours to bond with our new baby girl.

I think I’m just different.  I don’t mind people being there.  I grew up around a lot of people, so I enjoy having them there.  Every family is different though.  I completely understand wanting space in some situations!  Someone will have to keep my sister and law and Mom at a safe distance.  Lol But, it’s ok if they are there.  They’re not too terrible.

We didn't have any visitors until we were ready. We had her at 2pm and my husband called our parents to invite them to come from 6-8. I was able to get a shower and eat something and have her all to ourselves for a few hours. Then visiting hours ended at 8 and we allowed our sisyers to come the next day. We never had any other visitors. We welcomed friends once we were home and settled

I’m so passionate about this subject, oh my. 
I think a lot of people are either completely ignorant or just overlook the fact that labor is incredibly hard, taxing, and just a crazy time for your body (and your mind). 
In my experience people are so quick to give personal space and recovery time to people who have had surgeries, but when you birth a human they want to be all up in your face or there for the entire ordeal. 
I didn’t let anyone come to the birthing centre or hospital with my first, I didn’t even tell people I was in labor (I knew I would be constantly bugged with “can I please comeeeee” texts & phone calls). If you don’t want people there during or after put your foot down and they can get over themselves. 
Little one will be still tiny and cute a few days later, they can wait!

Girl I’m with you! First girl everyone was in the damn hospital and stayed a whole week after! I want alone/bonding time with this second girl between my husband and oldest child.

I’m the same, you’re actually being much more flexible than me, I don’t want visitors until the baby is home and I have the opportunity to bond comfortably or a couple days and learn to nurse without an audience. I’ve requested to have the baby with me for 3 days before visitors are allowed to come over

With my son I only wanted immediate family (parents and siblings) and our families honored that. It actually worked out pretty well because I gave birth around 3:30pm, by them time I got stitched up, cleaned up and transferred from the delivery room to the recovery room it was 7:00pm and visiting hours ended at 8:00pm

For my first we were living in a different state than all of our family, so it ended up being just myself & my husband at the hospital. I worked at the OB office where I also got my care, so the doctor that delivered him, another doctor I was fairly close with, and our nurse practitioner all stopped by the day after he was born, but I was so glad to have as much privacy as we did!
This time we live closer to family, so of course my MIL already has grandeous ideas of her bringing my son up to the hospital to meet the new baby, but the reality is my parents will be watching my son during the delivery, and they will drop him off to meet the baby and they will leave and come back later in the day or the next day to meet the baby themselves. My parents understand that that is how I want it, but I’m sure my MIL will try to come anyway, so the L&D; staff will be told no visitors allowed.
