Would you risk sushi???

No judgment please, just curious!

I have always heard you can’t have sushi while you’re pregnant, because of risk of getting sick from bad raw fish (and high mercury, but you’re supposed to avoid high mercury fish anyway). Before getting pregnant, I was telling my sister-in-law what I would miss most is sushi. She said not to worry about it, that she had sushi while she was pregnant (in moderation if course). She said women in Asian countries continue to eat sushi while pregnant, and it’s not frowned upon there. Obviously I looked it up, and it’s true, in Japan women continue to eat sushi while pregnant. Anyway, sorry to make a novel out of a simple question! My question is, would you eat sushi from a trusty source (my husband and I have a favorite sushi restaurant, it’s the highest rated authentic sushi in Portland metro area, has fantastic reviews and I’ve NEVER heard of anyone getting sick there), that has a low-mercury fish, and not overdo it on the quantity, while pregnant?

I’m 22 weeks, and I’ve been strong up until this point! And it’s been a SERIOUS craving! My husband wanted to take me out to our favorite sushi place for valentines tonight, but as you can see from my novel, I’m little hesitant 😂

I don’t want to do anything to risk the safety of my little one, but pregnancy is so restrictive— I’m getting tired of trying to abide by ever single recommendation!

Please let me know what you think!
