FTM here. I am 39+6 and had my 40 week check up today. I had an internal exam and after checking my cervix, the midwife showed me my "bloody show" on her gloved fingers. (I do know the difference between bloody show and the mucous plug.)

I'm confused just because I thought that if I was having bloody show, I would see it when using the bathroom. Is it possible for it to just be sitting up there and not actually coming out? After my exam I've only had a bit of brown tinged blood like at the end of a period. No mucous.

In case anyone is curious, I am 1.5 cm dilated and 60% effaced. The midwife was surprised given that I am a FTM and said to keep up what I have been doing. I have been using evening primrose oil as a suppository and drinking red raspberry leaf tea.
