Thoughts on registries ?

Thinking about where I should make one, if I should even make one. I feel like having one would just be asking for free shit and saying I only want gifts if I pick them out. Anyone feel the same and it ended up being a good idea?

I felt the same way when I had my bridal shower I didn't set up a registry until my guests were bugging me and asking what I wanted/needed. So I made one and I actually got a lot off of it. I think people usually expect there to be a registry it makes it much easier on guests because it's a known thing to bring gifts and most people want to. So I will be setting my baby shower registry up at target and buybuy baby.

Some people will go off of the registry so be creative if hey see a cute outfit but generally people don’t want to shop and would rather just use a list to shop.

No. I have never felt that way, ESPECIALLY not as a gift-giver. Almost all my friends had babies before me, and I think I would have been annoyed and frustrated if they didn’t make a registry, because as someone who had never had a baby, I would have no idea what to get them. Also why would I want to get them something they don’t want? Buying gifts for people can be stressful, and things like registries and wish lists make things easier - not for the person getting the gifts but for the person giving them. 
Plus now that I am pregnant, I would do a gift registry even if I knew nobody would buy anything. Why? Because I got a box of freebies, a 15% discount on everything I buy off my registry and $100 in diaper rewards if I spend a certain amount on the registry. I would not lose out on those savings for the sake of what other people might think.

registrys are a great way to share bottle or diaper choices with people. Most people use them as a guide to know what to buy. Like if everything is purple they know your theme is purple or what ever other color or theme is mainly dominate. Also making the registry at stores you plan to buy major items from helps you get a discount usually atleast 15% of whatever people didnt buy. This comes in handy because you never really expect people to buy expensive items like cribs or strollers / car seats but this takes a huge discount off of something you will buy regardless.

Do a registry, if not for your guests then for yourself! It’s nice to have an ongoing list of things you need and want that you can easily update. Also, you get great freebies and completion discounts. 
I registered at Amazon (everything is cheaper on Amazon, plus the shipping is great), Target for those who like to shop in person, and BuyBuyBaby because they have EVERYTHING and a 1 year return policy. Also BuyBuyBaby is owned by Bed, Bath, and Beyond, so you can use all those 20% off coupons there too (that way their prices compete with Amazon).

Yes, I would do a registry! It really helps to let people know what you want and need for baby!!! Target, Amazon, and Babies R’ Us are all great options. Although I would be careful with Babies R’ Us as I think they are downsizing and liquidating stores!

I did a registry with Amazon. I have been to plenty of baby shower where guests bring tons of clothes as gifts. Yes, your baby needs clothes but there is plenty of things that you will be using on the daily bases as well. About 80% off the items from my registry was bought by my guests. And I got gift cards as well (you can request them on amazon as well) that will come handy when ordering diapers etc...
