Etsy?

Question

Is it worth it to try to sell art on etsy? I have no experience with etsy other than ordering products and I dont know anyone personally who runs an etsy shop. Just wondering if I'd be able to pocket a few extra bucks?

I use Etsy and I think it can be profitable once you figure out how to market efficiently. I’m still working on that part lol, but i don’t depend solely on Etsy for sells. I also sell through a local art gallery, art/craft fairs, i get orders for commissioned paintings through my social media and I sell prints through fineartamerica.com . The cost of making prints on demand and then packaging and shipping them through Etsy wasn’t cost effective for me. So I just offer originals with my Etsy shop. Fineartamerica.com handles the packaging and shipping for my prints.

It's definitely possible, although I've never made much on Etsy.
There are a ton of options out there when it comes to selling art. I know a few people who use Storenvy and/or Mercari to sell original pieces. When it comes to selling prints and other items, you could check out RedBubble or Society6. They're convenient because you don't have to worry about printing/packaging/shipping. On the downside, you only make a certain percentage of sales.

You might not make a ton, but I think it’s worth it to try! It’s pretty easy to set up an etsy shop. It can also be a good motivation to get more serious about your artwork if that’s something you want to do. If you do it, I would recommend looking at other art shops on Etsy and reading articles on Etsy (they have a lot of good tips).

I sell on Society6 because they make me really really easy to sell since they do most of the work for you without taking too much of the profit

Etsy is great if you have an inventory of products. It’s a bit more difficult if you do only custom stuff. Give it a go! :)
