Do you think car insurance could be cheaper if they didn’t have so many commercials

Progressive, Geico, State Farm, Nationwide, and many more have quite a lot of advertisements on tv. All claiming to give the best prices. My dad things if they didn’t make so many commercials, they could cut the prices by half. What do you think

Advertising costs money, but they wouldn't do it if it didn't work (increase revenue). Without advertising it's quite possible their revenue would drop (fewer new customers) and rates would not go down. You have to realize that businesses that are run well are spending money to profit the company, not just to burn it and make customers eat the loss.

If they had less advertising, they would insure fewer people and so insurance would be more expensive.

Maybe EVERYTHING would probably be the tiniest bit cheaper if they weren’t advertised, but on the other hand maybe it would be ridiculously more expensive because the company would need to make more out of each sale because they wouldn’t have as many customers. advertisement is how people actually get their product known and recognised and (hopefully) make money out of it. If people think ads are annoying, get Netflix or something, but companies need to be able to advertise in one way or another, even small businesses advertise online these days, it’s everywhere, and in a capitalist society you really can’t expect any less.

In that case everything would be cheaper if they did not advertise, also their consumption would go significantly down due to lack of advertisement. 
You could easily find small insurance companies that do not advertise and I guarantee you that their prices will be more expensive than Geico and State Farm/ The Advertisements are not making their prices go up

One of the best ways to get a better rate on car insurance is to switch companies. If there is a high degree of competition (which there seems to be from the advertisements), it should keep prices down.

No. We only have one insurance company where I live so they don’t bother advertising and it’s still expensive as fuck
