Possible dog abuse?

So a few weeks back we sent our 1 year old pup for training. The lady was really nice and said she could help us. Well we just got him back tonight and oh my goodness he has lost so much weight. You can see his ribs, hip bones, his chest. I feel horrible. My parent spend almost $1,600 to get him trained. He also has small cuts in each of his years and he doesn’t seem to be trained at all. My mom is livid that he’s as skinny as he is now, he’s already a small dog. What should we do? I feel so bad for my pup.

I’m a dog trainer and none of my clients dogs have ever gone home this thin. The cuts could have been from rough play in the yard with other dogs. If the trainer isn’t properly showing you how to pick up the work at home then it’s almost pointless. Lots of times dogs listen amazingly to the trainer and ignore their owner. 
As for the weight loss, possibly the dog is stressed and not eating. But in that case, your trainer needs to figure something else out if your dog has lost so much weight. But is your dog a naturally thin breed? How big was your dog in the beginning?

Plus, ask for a dog training license from her, you can’t train without one legally. She should be having you guys become involved in the training process.
