How to teach baby to use a sippy cup??

My daughter is 10 mo, and I’ve been giving her a sippy cup just so she gets use to it since about 6 mo. She holds it but only chews on the top whether it’s a straw or soft top of some kind. So today I tried putting a little milk in one, and she held it but didn’t get anything out because she won’t tip it far enough, so I helped her tip it, well then she just quits holding it but had the sucking part down, but she won’t swallow it! She just keeps sucking it out and letting it all run out of her mouth. She won’t hold her own bottles either 😑 baby #2 is due end of April so I need her to either learn to hold her own bottle or learn to use a sippy cup. Any tips or tricks??

Baby learned to use a straw cup at about 7m. I just tok a glass with a straw myself and he tried to copy me. we had some trouble with ordinary sippycups since he was just chewing and didn't tilt the cup enough.

I got the 360’cup with handles and first had him take sips without the lid. It made a complete mess but he caught on and is able to drink out of it easily. I also feel like he doesn’t have to tip it up as far as other silly cups. The first couple of times I held it for him but he can do it on his own for the most part now.

maybe try a freeflow sippy cup, in uk they advise it over straws to reduce teeth decay. we have one and it normally only gets messy we hes had enough. we also use the 360 which is great

I had to have my son use a 360 cup because when they chew on it or sip it juice comes out he learned really quick. It took every day for a week all day long giving it to him. Shortly after he learned to use a straw.

Following! My baby walker by 10 mo yet can't hold her own bottle/sippy! She gets straws but it usually ends in a mess. I hope it clicks soon! Also, some sippys seem so difficult to get anything out!

For my son, one day, it just clicked. I don't know how or why, but it did! Like you, I kept offering him the opportunity to learn at each meal. He only figured it out in the last month too, and he's 10.5 months old. I tried several types but the one he "got" is the 360, surprisingly! Perhaps it's because we let him drink out of our cups of water with assistance sometimes? I don't know! Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be!
