Gender reveal for baby we are adopting?

My dream has always been to do a cute gender reveal when I find out my baby’s gender. I would have my friend be told if it’s a girl or boy and have her take care of the arrangements. Now that we are adopting (and not pregnant myself)we will find out baby’s gender in 3 weeks but don’t want to have a party. I would still however love to find the gender out with my close family while popping a balloon or cutting a cake. Would this be to “extra” of me to do? I wouldn’t make it a big deal, just with my family, since there is always that risk with adoption that something could go wrong.
