Breast pump to hospital????

Did any of you ladies take your breast pump to the hospital? Is it even necessary?

It’s not necessary, but if you’re unsure how to use it the lactation nurse can explain/show you how. I think it just depends on your comfort level with it. Otherwise the hospital will supply you with one while there - most women don’t need them while in the hospital though.

They supply with a pump but you need to bring your pump accessories or they will charge for them. You will also need to sanitize the parts prior so basically take all the plastic pieces (not the long tubes but everything else) and boil them in water for 5-10mins and then set them out to dry. Put them (and the long tubes) in a baggy and put in your hospital bag.

Definitely not necessary unless you have specific questions on yours. But they will have one for you there to use if you plan on pumping straight away.

I only did to ask the nursing consultant about it and to make sure everything fit right. I didn’t use it there.

Even if it's not necessary to bring your own pump, I would much rather bring my own and have the lactation consultant help me get familiar with mine in order to find the perfect settings before going home day- instead of finding the perfect settings with the hospital provided pump and then starting over with my own after getting home. However, every momma has her own preference❣️ ☺️
