I told my bf something personal

I told my boyfriend the fact when I was 5 years old, I got gagged pretty much almost to death by a 16 year old. He said it's better that it happens to a little percentage of women than every woman in the word. That it's better that some men do that and not all of them. I broke down and cried. I felt like he was belittling what I went through and other women. Was it wrong to feel this way?
