Photography Business

I have a Nikon D3400 that I haven’t used. I’ve been thinking about quitting my job and taking up photography for fun/just to have a little spending money. The only problem is, I have no idea where to start. I know I would need to take some pictures for friends and family to start with so people could see my work.. but what about actually learning to use my camera and different lenses? Learning about different lighting, etc? What kind of editing program would be best? Anybody started there own photography business and want to send me some pointers?
