In general, do you feel like new moms or young moms are taken seriously when they bring their baby into the ER?
I was talking to my son's other mom about our son's health last night. I had to bring him into the ER because I was concerned my son was having infantile spasms which is a type of seizure in infants up to four years old. I talked with his doctor and got a neurology consult but they couldn't see him until May or June. I posted in a Down Syndrome support group since IS is more common in DS kids. They advised me to take him into the ER. I caught a video of his spasms and showed it to the doctor in the ER. I wasn't being taken seriously until the doctor saw it for himself and the EEG confirmed it was IS. They admitted him and I still feel like no one is taking me seriously. The same thing happened back in January with his Gtube. I felt like there was something wrong, but I was shrugged off. There was something wrong. His gtube was too tight and his skin was eroding as a result. My son's mother said they're probably looking at my age and the fact that this is my first baby and figuring I'm overreacting. So this begged the question in my head.
Bonus question: Do you take new/young moms seriously? If not, why?
