Do you think these parents should be charged?

I was just watching a video on Facebook about a little girl who was kidnapped in Tennessee after her mom left her in the car while it was running so she could go pick up some food from a restaurant. The baby was found unharmed but apparently there were other kidnappings in the area that happened after parents had left their children alone in running cars. The woman hasn’t been charged and her baby was given back to her but CPS is investigating. However I believe she should be charged. I get that it takes a lot to take a baby out of the car to run a 5 minute errand but people are crazy and I’ve been in the area she was in at the time and it’s not very safe. What do y’all think about this?

charged with what exactly? unless CPS finds other damning evidence, i’d say no. what’s the end goal here? the child is taken away from what is presumably a loving home? sure, stupid on the parents part to leave the kid, especially in a known bad area. this was most likely a harsh slap in the face for them and they won’t be doing this again.

Well it is neglect. I favor CPS intervention over jail time etc. though. Ask yourself, what’s going to help this baby more?

This happened in Memphis right? But no she shouldn’t be charged smh she already got the scare of her life and I’m sure she learned her lesson. It was a stupid mistake but not anything to charge or punish her with.

charged is extreme. its like your blamingg the parent for the whole kidnappingg. yes if the parent hadnt left the child.maybe they wouldnt have been kidnapped but it wasnt them who got the kid kidnapped.

Charging this lady for leaving her child in a running car just so she could pick up some food just bcs doing so resulted in an unthinkable kidnapping incident... is not a good enough reason to have this lady charged. Doing so would be like charging a victim of rape for being raped because she was wearing shorts or a skirt or a pretty dress or something... whatever guys call ‘asking for it’. 
She was not asking for her child to be kidnapped just because she wanted to save some time in picking up the food. Something could have easily happened even if she had brought the kids in with her.  Someone could have still snatched the kid up in a second of her not paying attention bcs she’s paying for or carrying the 🍕 and the child wonders off for just a min... it happens. Never jump to blame the parents. Even the best and most attentive parents could fall victim to such a crime. No one is perfect. 
Sorry if that scares you. It scares me too.

I have 3 kids and I take them in everywhere. Might not be the most fun thing, but even if people weren’t flawed, I still wouldn’t leave them in a car unattended. True story: when I was 4 my dad left me in my car seat to go into a store quick. He even had a view of the car. I got out and started playing with the gear shift and the car started drifting towards the busy road. Had some Good Samaritan not jumped into the rolling vehicle, I either wouldn’t be here orrr I would have been seriously hurt. I drive a stick shift so that scares me. I do think some sort of laws need to be in place so people stop leaving their kids in cars unattended. But, that’s just me 🤷🏻‍♀️ until some law happens I don’t think there’s much the mom can be charged with.

Sh neglected her child. She should have some form of repercussions. Where I live I believe it’s illegal to leave your child in the car like that.

She shouldn't be charged but she should be required to take parenting classes and CPS should do routine check ups for a while.
