Do you find the word “dyke” offensive?

It used to be an insult, almost like the word fag. But many queer women have repurposed it into something positive. I’m still having a hard time finding it as something positive though...

I have negative feelings towards it due to people using it as an insult towards me in my youth. I commend others who are "taking it back", but I just don't think I will ever feel that way.

Depends on the context. If somebody is actually a dyke and identifies as one then no. However, if people use it as an insult then yes.

I for one laugh when people call me a “dyke”, even my mum does and I kind of like it. it runs in with a massive part of the LGBTQ+ community of owning and accepting what others think of you as best you can, even if it’s supposed to be hurtful or make you feel bad about who you are.
However i can see why there are some who’d be offended, especially if the name is used as a slur or insult

the problem is that every single word used to refer to us has been used as a slur - “gay” originated as an insult towards effeminacy, “homosexual” was a clinical term invented to pathologize us... in my opinion, it’s best to just go by what individual people feel comfortable calling themselves. it’s the most respectful option.

It depends on who uses it. Lesbians can self identify as dykes and reclaim it but the heteros shouldn't use it.
