Crush question

So i like this guy and he’s kinda sorta socially awkward?? He’s just very quiet and shy. I have talked to him a few times for school occasions and he doesn’t seem to hate me or really like be but idk if that’s just because he’s shy. My question is should I keep trying to talk to him and at least befriend him or leave him alone?

Side note: he’s one of the hottest guys in my grade and every girl likes him but he doesn’t talk to ANY girls. He’s very focused on school and sports. I don’t talk to him every day maybe like once every 2-3 weeks lol but I’m trying. He’s just so cute and I’m scared lol
