Emotional affair

I just recently found out my husband has been having an emotional affair with a friend of mine. And when i confronted him about it he apologized for everything. He said he never meant to betray our marriage. I told him that I wanted to work things out and that I love him so much and think our marriage is worth fighting for. I asked if he wanted to work it out and he told me that he did and that my friend meant nothing to him. My problem is that I can’t get over it. I want to move on from all of this and work on us. He has already deleted her from every thing and says he doesn’t talk to her anymore. He is deployed and it is hard to believe him when I am not there to see what is going on. I am wondering if anyone else has gone through this and has any encouraging words or advice to help me move on? And has made through with a successful marriage after the emotional affair.
