When did you upsize to a toddler bed?

Question

My daughter is turning 2 in July. I want to get her a toddler bed but she does 360s all night. I don’t think that little rail on a toddler bed would stop her from flipping right out. How do you know your LO is ready to upsize?

My 20 month old is still sleeping well and has not climbed out (knock on wood) of her crib. I am going to keep her in there for as long as possible lol.

our little man is 20 months and constantly tossing and turning, slamming into the wall and rail  and waking himself up, and he would only fall back asleep in our bed. after a lot of debate we bought him the dockatot grand. he used it for the first time last night and slept through the night for 11 hours! i’m 36 weeks pregnant, so of course i was up flipping still, but i could see on his monitor that he would be in a diff position every time i looked 😂 highly recommend the dockatot grand!!!!

We just switched my daughter last week to a toddler bed. We had an apartment size crib and she was getting too tall for it. 
She’s doing great and loves her big girl bed!

We are expecting #2 in July-so we didn’t want to have any issues.  We switched my 20 month old to her big girl room w a full sized bed (daybed w a toddler rail).  She loves it and sleeps much better there.  We originally converted her crib to a toddler bed but she fell out a few times because she does toss and turn so much.  She loves her big bed though. A month or two after her first bday we out a twin mattress on the floor. Then about four or five mi the later out it up on the frame. We rolled some blankets up and put them under the fitted sheet and used them as bumpers. We have a gate at the door and no toys in reach in bedroom. It’s worked great! Sometimes she falls asleep on carpet. Sometimes it’s the bed. Ha

We switched at 18 months. He is a head banger when he is angry at it wanting to sleep and at nap one day isslammed his chin and busted his lip. That night the toddler bed was put together. We had some trouble with keeping him in it but I found it easier rather than going in and putting him back in it to just ignore the behavior. He fell asleep on floor/on the guest bed for a while. We have a baby gate in his door way as well so he can’t get out andhis room is 100% toddler proof.

We switched when my son was 18 months (needed crib for baby sister). He also flips all night long, but the toddler railing has kept him in. We also put the bed in the corner of the room so he can only get out on one side. He does get out a lot, mostly when avoiding naptime. But he has never fallen out while sleeping 🙂

We moved my son at 15 months mainly because he wasn’t sleeping as well and climbed out/fell out of the crib no matter what we tried so I decided on a toddler bed because it scared me to much thinking he could get hurt. He honestly loves it and actually sleeps better in it with the exception of sleep regressions. That’s the only time he has fallen out of his toddler bed which is only once so far.
