Is it selfish to adopt?

So my partner and I have 2 children together and partner wants another of our own, but I have always wanted to adopt, my partner says that it's 'selfish' to adopt because there are people out there that can't have children that want to adopt and if we adopt they miss out, but I know there are so many kids that do need adopting and so many families that can still do so even if we do, 
Is it selfish to adopt? It has always been a dream of mine, to adopt a beautiful child from Africa. I know there are so many children over there that need love and a healthy home and that's all I want to give. My partner said if we have 3 of our own we can adopt the 4th. But is it selfish to do so?

It's never, ever selfish to adopt. There are literally SOO many kids who are homeless and in foster care. It's something we have discussed too. I have my two bonus kids (my stepkids) and we are having our first together.

not at all! So many kids need homes and not everyone wants to adopt. If you are willing and able, go for it.

An adoption agency wouldn't let me adopt and told me I was selfish because I could physically have my own children. I cried so hard. There are so many unwanted children. I would never try to take from a family that couldn't conceive a biological child, I just wanted to adopt and love a child that didn't have a family. I don't find it selfish at all. Why create another child when there is one already born out there somewhere that would love to have you as a mommy.

That is the least selfish thing you can do. Honestly I’m tearing up because I can’t help but think it’s so beautiful that you can and do have your own but STILL want to adopt ❤️

Not even close!!! If there weren’t thousands of kids who never get adopted then maybe I could see his point. There are plenty of kids that need homes.

If anything it’s the opposite of selfish ! I think couples that can and/or choose to adopt for whatever reason have a special place in my heart 💕

there are so many more children that need to be adopted vs families that adopt. It is a beautiful and loving thing to do, definitely not selfish.

My hubby and I are having our own 2 babies. Then we will become foster parents, and adopt out of the system ❤️
