The term Religious

Betssy

I’m a Christian, I haven’t been my whole life but I have discovered my faith and I am in love with Jesus. My family are also Christian, my father was a pastor at an earlier stage of his life but grew up in a very conservative household and began to fluctuate from his beliefs, he still has his faith but he rejects a lot of what the Bible teaches us, and he never got around to talking to me or my sister Vivian about Jesus. Hence I thought I was a Christian until I opened my eyes and realized that the life I was living was filled with sin and aloneness. My sister on the other hand went on a different path, and I’m pretty sure she does not believe in God at all. Even Doubts his existence. It burdens me deeply and I can tell that my faith makes her uncomfortable and it’s quite a difficult situation given we all live under the same Ruth. Although it’s not talked about every day. Anyways back to the topic, her and her boyfriend tend to call me and mine “Religious people” and I’m not quite sure I like the term, the way the say it feels almost offensive towards me. As if they are placing me in a group of extremism for following me faith. I think my walk if my faith and I am a person of faith and I prefer that term. My boyfriend feels the same way and one time I mentioned it to my sisters boyfriend and he through a joke at it. I guess I don’t like being called “Religious” because I feel as it is associated with a negative connotation to it. Am I wrong to feel this way ??
