Eye doctor sharing patient info?

So I live in a small town now and I took my 5 month old to the eye doctor here and like I expected he needs glasses really bad. Well my husband's father knew our son had an appointment that day because we put everything on a calendar in the living room (he lives with us) but he had an appointment that day too I guess and was asking the eye doctor about our son, and the eye doctor told him he'll need glasses because he's really farsighted and his eyes cross too much. Was this okay of him? I'm thinking about switiching my son over to someone else now
