How do you arrange 2 convertible car seats in a non 3rd-row-seat car?

I have no idea how the convertible car seats will fit in my SUV. They will both be rear facing (newborn and 1.5 yr old). Please explain to me how you did it. I'm having anxiety thinking about all this. My husband keeps telling me we should get a bigger SUV or even a van when we just bought the SUV we have now!! 😠 I lived life as a kid in a regular car. So I know it's possible.

I’d put one on either side with middle open

It’s not recommended to put the carseat in the middle seat because theres no protection if an object comes through the windshield. I would take your car to a trained carseat inspector. Out local fire station and some AAA do it free of charge. I’m sure your hospital has a list on hand.

It really depends on the car. We just bought a 2017 Ford Escape and once we installed the car seat we realized the manual said not to put a car seat in the middle seat.

They can’t touch or cross each other’s airspace next to each other so it’s very possible you wouldn’t be able to do that anyway. Depending on the seats you have. 
I drive a Toyota Avalon. I have two rearfacing kids (an almost 2 yr old and a 6 month old). They are one on each side cause that’s what works best.

Its probly easier to have one on each side you do not have to sit with them unless you want to

I only have 1 baby for now, and im driving in a 2005 buggy convertible , i put the graco 4ever 4 in 1 in the back seat right by the right door. If i have the 2nd one i will use the other seat by the left door , let the middle space open. Hubby has an SUV but doesn’t have 3rd either , so will be same arrangements as my car . The guy who put the car seat on my buggy just to see if it fits before we purchase it told us we can use the middle space too, but we decided not to.

I do not have an suv yet but I will have 2 fear facing car seats in my 2016 vw passat . (Our lease is up in 2 years and we will get a 3rd row suv) but I plan on putting car seats on both side by doors.. (my son is almost 18month and he’s already by the door) but my next one will be by the other door and we won’t have room for anyone else besides driver and front passenger once car seats are in .
