appendectomy scar worries

this may sound like a really silly thing to query but I'm getting quite worried. 12 years ago I had a gangrene burst appendix. as it was an emergency, I had an open appendectomy instead of key hole surgery and for a good 3 or 4 years after I experienced pain on a daily basis probably due to the scar tissue and to this day I still get the odd twinge. I'm currently almost 12 weeks pregnant and I'm starting to worry about as I get bigger the effect it will have on my scar and scar tissue. the scar itself is about 3 or 4 inches long and it goes in on itself, basically looks like I am still cut open as it was a real botch job. went for my booking scan last week and asked the midwife for advice and she didn't know and she is referring me to an obstetrician. but in the meantime I'm driving myself mad thinking about what could or might happen. has anyone had a similar experience?
