anyone else terrified of going past due date?

I'm so paranoid about going more than a week past the due date because of all the complications, but i'm also scared to induce since i know that can lead to a c-section and that's the only thing i want to avoid more than anything. (obviously if baby's health is at risk i won't hesitate to have one but it's definitely at the bottom of my list of preferred birth plans!)
my mom had me 13 days past and my younger brother 17(!) days past due 😰 meaning i very likely could go 42 weeks
anyone else nervous about this?

The chances of complications from going over are not big until you hit 42 weeks, so try not to worry! Something I did last time around that helped mentally (got this idea from this app) was every day that I went over, I did something "special" for myself. One day I walked around Target and bought a cute mug, another day I got a pedicure, etc. That way, I had something little to look forward to, instead of getting anxious from the waiting. It can be hard, but for me waiting for spontaneous labor was important. Average for FTMs is 40+5, and 40+3 for sequential births, so I'm mentally preparing to go over again this time!

I'm kind of hoping she's a little late - I need to work until just before she is due.  Don't let being late scare you!  It is perfectly normal for a first time mom to run past the due date and not at all a need to panic.  40 weeks is just the middle of a natural range - actually, the average for women when they aren't being induced is closer to 41 weeks.  Ovulation time can vary a ton, and babies sometimes need extra cooking.

I’m pretty sure it’s been proven that your family history will not reflect your own birthing experiences will go. However stress & worry will. Try work on relaxing & let your body accept & acknowledge it’s time to birth when you feel it’s time. Your hormones are the answer here.

Yep definitely something I'm worried about especially since the hospital says my dates are out by 9 days (they predict due date to be the 11th I believe it to be the 2nd May(there's only 1 week time frame where my husband wasnt working away that month so I know the week of conception) which if I go over I feel puts extra risks on my baby. :S here's hoping my baby girl is early or on time by their dates

I was 3 weeks late and my mom stopped progressing and had to have a c section. I’m not too worried about going late, actually have a feeling it’ll happen anyway. More scared about the possibility of the c section.

My mom went way over like that too.  I only went over by a week.  I think modern technology helps - specifically dating scans. I suspect my mom dropped eggs late (like I do) and that contributed to being so overdue.
The good news is most doctors will induce at 41 or 42 weeks...so it won’t be a 20 day waiting game.

Yes. Terrified. My mom had three very large babies and my baby is at 50th percentile overall but her belly is measuring in the 70th!! My doctor said they will induce after a week late, but that’s too long for me. Just praying she’s ready right around my due date and comes on her own.

Me!! I don't want to go over and have them intrude/rush my baby out because otherwise I feel like he isn't ready! xxx
