Do any of you wonderful ladies experience hereditary cold sores?

My dad has always had cold sores growing up and throughout the years and sadly I got them too from his genes but I just wanted to know if I wasn't the only one out there dealing with this bs 😂

cold sores are not hereditary.  you got them from your dad either kissing you as a child or sharing drinks/utensils with him.

Hereditary cold sores don’t exist. Canker sores, maybe. But cold sores are from the herpes virus and nothing else. Stress, temp changes, and sickness can cause the virus to be able to become symptomatic. Probably from your parents kissing you as a baby.

Hereditary cold sores? I thought cold sores presented on the mouth is HSV1 which is passed through saliva from someone infected with the virus. I know that research has discovered that genetics can play a role by making others more susceptible to catching it, but I've never heard of it being a heridatry virus..........

you can't get "hereditary" herpes. it's passed through sexual contact and the swapping of bodily fluids (including blood, semen, vaginal fluid, saliva)

I’ve been plagued by cold sores since I’m about 11 — I’m 30 now. My mother always got brutal cold sores. I told my GP about them and she gave me a script for valtrex with refills. The second I feel the dreaded itch I take 2 pills and then 1 pill a day for a few days and bam no cold core or a very small one. I totally sympathize with you!

🙋🏽‍♀️I do! My mom gets them really bad. In her nose and sometimes on her lips. The same thing happens to me anytime my body starts fighting a cold, virus, etc. My brother doesn’t get them at all. I have a 10 year old daughter and a 15 year old son. My daughter just started getting them near her nose too when she’s sick. But my son never gets them

I got my very first one when I was really little  My mom has always gotten them so I’m pretty sure she passed it on to me by giving me a kiss as a child
