My husband keeps imitating other people
I don’t know what to call this. It’s like he has no identity or self anymore. He can’t spot obviously malicious, manipulative, or narcissistic people right in front of him that give everyone else bad vibes. It’s particularly horrible because he will meet a manipulative person who pretends to be nice for a bit and he will fall for it instantly and come home acting like that person (speaking with their mannerisms, their body language, etc). If he meets someone with any strong emotion (happiness, anger, etc) he will just become that. At the same time he is not empathetic at all. He doesn’t feel anything for instance if someone is crying, in pain, grieving, or when seeing excessive violence. No emotional response except for a canned response that is obviously fake.
I feel like I’m living with a shell of a person. I don’t know how to explain this to my counselor so she will take it seriously. Does this sound strange to you?
