Identical twin birth story đź’—đź’—PICTURES INCLUDED!

Amber • Mama of 5! 3 boys, and identical twin girls 💙💙💙💖💖

On April 7, we were scheduled to be induced at 36+2. My mom, hubby and I sat around the hospital for 10 hours before we were sent home due to no beds in the NICU “just in case”. My OB checked my cervix before I left. I was at a 3. They had been semi monitoring my contractions all day. They were consistent, but not strong, so he felt comfortable sending us home for the night and try again in the morning. We got home, got our other kids snuggled up watching a movie... aaaand.... my water broke! We called my OB, and asked him what we should do, since there was no room in their NICU. He had us go there anyway so he could check me, make sure it was really my waters, and see how quickly I was progressing. When we got back to the hospital, I was only at a 4, but it was determined that my water did indeed break. So they monitored babes and I for a bit, when they decided to have us transported to another hospital near by who had room in their NICU. By this time, contractions were closer and stronger, and when we got to the other hospital, I asked for the epidural. They decided to give it to me BEFORE they checked my cervix again. Once the epidural was placed, they checked me, and I was at an 8! In 2 hours, I had gone from 4-8. I’ve never had a labor move so quickly... because I had progressed so far so fast, the epidural didn’t have time to kick in before it was time to start pushing. So I felt EVERYTHING! Soon, with every contraction, it felt like a baby was going to fall out... so a nurse checked me and called the doctor right away. It was time to wheel me to the OR to deliver. 2 contractions and 3 pushes later, baby A (Freya) was here, 6lbs3oz. Baby B was breech, which we knew, so they had to pull her out. 5 minutes and 2 pushes(and lots of pulling) later, baby B (Sofia) was here, 5lbs6oz. I didn’t need any stitches or anything, and the girls never left my sight. Neither of them required any NICU time, and we got to go home the next day! ( they were born in the wee hours of the morning on April 8th, and we were home on the 9th)
