I don't want to see myself up for disappointment

my period is supposed to start tomorrow and the past 2 or 3 days I have been feeling like I have the flu different times of the day. I have been trying for almost a year to get pregnant with my second child I took a pregnancy test a couple days ago and it was negative. what I'm thinking if I did get pregnant this time I got pregnant after ovulation and my hormones are not high enough. I'm confused because I took an early pregnancy test and it was negative. my period always comes early before the expected date and I always have to update it. could these flu like symptoms mean I might be pregnant even though the test was negative in really trying not to set my self up for disappointment
