When can you have your first ultrasound?

I will be 4 weeks tomorrow and of course I’m dying to see my baby! 😂🤩 When is the earliest you can have an ultrasound? 😅

Most doctors do 8-12 weeks for the first one. Some doctors do around 6/7 weeks if you’ve had miscarriages or high risk.

Sometimes it's depends on insurance, if insurance only has one ultrasound approved, you might have to wait until 20 weeks!
With my first, I got one at 8 weeks. With my second, we had different insurance and they weren't going to do one until 20 weeks but then they were concerned that I was further along than I thought so they ordered one at 9 weeks. I was exactly as far along as I thought but I wasn't going to complain, I was happy to see that little peanut.

We did one at 8+4. At that point it still just looks like a lil chicken nugget :) I wouldn’t do it earlier than 8 weeks. You won’t see anything

I almost wouldn’t bother with any scan before 8 weeks unless there’s a medical reason. You won’t be able to see much of anything. I had an early ultrasound due to medical reason at 7w3, and it was a blob that looked nothing like a baby.
