Advice for Celiac Disease?

I’m 14 and got diagnosed after an endoscopy about a month ago. Any tips for brands, foods, etc? I’m trying to eat healthy.

I was diagnosed when I was 14 too. I'm almost 19 now. I'm still adjusting. it's a lot of trial and error. being the only one in my family with Celiac has not helped either. my favorite brands include Udi's, Rudi's, and Glutino. try to experiment a little bit. learning to cook was the biggest help for me; it's one of my favorite hobbies now. My parents have been gluten free for 15 years, so it’s been a fairly normal part of my life despite not being celiac.
One of my favourite substitutions is spaghetti squash instead of gluten free pasta. With your fave marinara it’s sooo good.
Also cauliflower can do amazing things especially if you have a food processor. You start to get really creative with alternatives too. Really though it becomes so easy after a few months of not eating it.

Gluten is hidden in so many places!  Your best bet is to do veggies, fruit and meat but cross contamination is what usually gets me. I’m one of the lucky people who can’t eat food prepared on shared equipment. If you are too, steer clear of fried food that goes in with gluten containing items. Sadly, most chocolate and nuts are processed on shared equipment. 😢 Also stay away from pre-made stuff like crumbled parm cheese, house made juices (wheat grass), and body products that have gluten because even if you don’t have skin reactions the can get into your mouth via touch food. 
At restaurants, make sure you let your server know you have severe gluten problems and that cross contamination is an issue. They will wash knives, pots, pans, cutting boards and surfaces before preparing your food if they are a good establishment. Thai, Burmese, Spanish, Japanese, Indian, Salvadorian and California Cuisine places usually have lots of naturally gluten free options and accommodate. Eating out is always a gamble!
Ben and Jerry’s finally has some certified gluten free flavors. Canyon Bakehouse and Against the Grain has great bread, much better than Udi’s.

I have celiac too and I’m glad you got diagnosed so early in life! Other people have already recommended good gluten free brands so just a heads up to watch out for salad dressings, supplements/vitamins, lentils, oats, spices, “natural flavors”/coloring/malt, granola bars, and cereals. These are often places where gluten hides! Good luck ❤️

Also! Do a little bit of research into flare ups if you can, bc if you do accidentally eat gluten, there are some foods (like tomatoes and potatoes) that can make the symptoms worse and can cause their own secondary flare ups. I’m still learning about these, but its basically about how the gluten in your system then causes all the gastrointestinal inflammation, which can lead to a few other types of foods being mis-processed alongside the gluten.

Hey! I am not celiac, but am severely gluten intolerant. I love the Kinnickinnick’s and Northern Bakehouse brands for bread - they are wonderful! Catelli’s GF 4-grain pasta is the best gf stuff out there as well, pasta wise!

I would recommend maybe looking for advice from a place with more people with celiac disease. Better to make sure the people you're listening to actually know anything about celiac disease. 
There are multiple Facebook groups for people with celiac to trade safety information and recipes and stuff. Possibly even a local group that would have info about restaurants near you. And there Reddit pages just for celiac info. Other forums throughout the web too. Lots of info out there.
The hardest part of celiac disease is being a guest at other people's houses. Restaurants are the second hardest, but that's getting better and better over time. It's just uncomfortable sometimes to be as persistent as you sometimes need to be to make sure your food is safe.

I know that the store Trader Joe's has tons of organic food in not sure if you have it though but search it up its amazing! 
I think you should try to drink ginger tea it stops any inflammation(AKA sore parts of the body) with lemon to add that vitamin C
Any avoid ANY lettuce you at least for now if you do want to eat it wash it very carefully or what I recommend get pre-washed that way you know it's cleaned professionally and don't get it from Arizona, Yuma if your lettuce(or practically any fruit or veggie)
Isn't washed (like you didn't wash it or stuff) and is from Arizona, Yuma you could really risk E.coli im not gonna further explain it because I don't want to add more stress on you

I’m not as familiar with celiac restrictions other than the obvious gluten free thing. But i do know you want to avoid foods that cause inflammation as well. I think depending on how bad your allergy is, you also need to avoid “natural flavors” and basically any ingredients you can’t pronounce. I’m not celiac, but I follow the paleo diet. And normally if I find something in the store and can’t read the ingredients, I won’t get it. It’s gotta be simple and clean ingredients. I know some brands may have a celiac approved stamp on it, but not sure off hand what brands those are. 
The best stores I can recommend you go to are Sprouts, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe’s. 
Some good anti inflammatory foods are ginger, turmeric, broccoli, kale, green tea, berries...
Some gluten-free brands I like to use are Simple Mills (baked goods and mixes), Siete (chips and tortillas), Vans (crackers and waffles), Eating Evolved (chocolate)...
Some other good options are anything made with cassava flour, millet, amaranth, rice, potatoes...
Not sure if nuts or legumes cause an issue for you. But there’s almond flour and coconut flour too. Tons of fun nut butters out there. Nuttzo butter is my favorite. And Justin’s Peanut Butter it Almond Butter.
