(2 UPDATES) Unexpected surprise at 38+4

Kristyn

So I was just bitching how I felt like I was going to be pregnant forever. I show up to my appointment, they ask me if I want to be checked for dilation and effacement, so I say “sure, why not?” I expected them to tell me I’m still sealed up tight with no progress... she asks me how long I’ve been having Braxton Hicks and sporadic regular contractions. Why? Because I’m already 6cm dilated!!! What???? So she asks if I want her to sweep my membranes and half of me is screaming “HELL YES! I want my baby out!” And the other half is like “what the fuck? I’m not ready for labor at all!”

But.... my BP tonight is pretty high. So she convinces me to do the sweep to try to encourage labor tonight. If I don’t go into labor, I’ll have to come back tomorrow and have my BP checked. If it’s still high, I’m getting induced tomorrow. What the what?? Sooo crazy and I’m sooo nervous. Wish me luck guys!!!

***UPDATE*** Made it through the night. Went to the midwife and BP was still slightly elevated and there was a small amount of protein in my urine so they decided to send me for a non stress test and an ultrasound to make sure baby still looked good, which he does. Still 6cm dilated, still no real cramping. They decided to have me induced tonight! So I’m just waiting on a phone call from the hospital. 😊

***2nd update*** I went into the hospital at 5pm 4/24 to be induced. Dilated to 10cm around 4am but his head wasn’t as far down as they would like so they didn’t have me start pushing until 6am. 3 hours and a 2nd degree tear later, our little man arrived. We are sooo in love 💕 meet Liam Joseph
