Any babies had a problem due to lip tie?

I'm pretty sure my daughter has lip tie.  Anyone else? Has it caused problems? We have stopped breastfeeding as we couldn't get a latch right (maybe due to lip tie?) but wondering if it will cause speech or dental problems. Anyone have any experience?  Thank you

My step son has it. There was an option to cut it while he was a baby or they can grow out it. His mom chose to not have it cut and he has an extremely bad lisp and at times it’s hard to understand him. Other then that he is a perfectly normal healthy 6 year old!

Yes 🙋🏼‍♀️ My daughter had her lip tie and tongue tie cut (they often are both to tight so my advice is to let a lactationconsultant check out both first.) Your baby needs to be able to at least stick their tongue out of their mouth properly and (more importantly) also to touch their palate when crying, so no half way.
Anyways, my daughter also couldn’t latch and (also due to other things) and ended up in the hospital because she lost to much weight. The procedure to cut both ties was really small and not as bad as it sounds. It did made a huge difference. She ate better so gained back weight, I was in less pain because before my nipples were damaged, she threw up less (because of the extra air she was swallowing), and she went from a crying baby to a happy baby in general. 
If the lip- and tongue tie are to tight it can cause multiple problems in the future. From speech problems to eating problems, cavities in their teeth (because their tongue can’t get the food out of the tiny spaces), swallowing issues (because they can’t bring their food to their throat with the tongue, crooked teeth and room between the front teeth (because the lip tie goes between the teeth) and also problems with French kissing eventually.
Up until this day many doctors (that are not specialised in lactation problems and mouth issues) will tell you it doesn’t exist or it isn’t that big of a deal. Do your own research, it really does has affect on your baby’s development for now and later on in life. So don’t let those people stop you. Good luck!

My daughter has both. She nurses pretty well, but clicks pretty much the entire time. I’m honestly surprised we are still ebf but we’ve managed to get her latch to not be painful.
But she didn’t gain enough weight by 4 months, so now we are having to supplement with expressed milk after each feeding.
We have a consultation next week with a pediatric dentist. We know she has them (was confirmed by another ped dentist) we just have to decide if we want them clipped. 
If you think your child has one, I highly recommend finding a pediatric dentist in your area. They are the most knowledgeable I’ve found. My daughters pediatrician wouldn’t even look at her toes AND she’s the only who said she didn’t have a tongue tie, when she really does. Pediatricians aren’t vey well trained to assess tongue and lip ties. Dentists are where it’s at!

My second baby has it. She has an upper lip tie. It caused latching problems, gas, and very fussy eating habits. We went through so many bottles till we stuck with the Dr Brown natural flow. The nipple is nice and small and the easiest for her to drink from. My ped doesn’t correct them unless it’s a severe case. She’s 11 months now and she does just fine.
