I had a chemical pregnancy last week and I’m very upset about it. When I told my mom she said “Why are you upset? It’s not like you had a real miscarriage”. I know other people have it worse but do I have a right to be this upset about it?

You’re entitled to your feeling regardless of whether or not somebody else (even your mother) thinks you’re not. People handle things differently but that doesn’t mean that your way is wrong. I’m so sorry for your loss

Technically or “scientifically”, if we’re talking about the actual difference between the two, it’s not the same as a miscarriage. But with the emotional toll, I think it’s just as upsetting. Getting your hopes up as a you see a positive test, only to get your period... It’s frustrating and disappointing. You have a right to be upset.
