Tips/what to expect with an induction?

I am supposed to be getting induced in the next few hours and I am just curious on what I should expect. I am a FTM and they’re inducing due to preeclampsia at 37 weeks. Any tips or experiences would be really great to hear about. Thanks!

I was induced on a Monday morning for the exact same reason at 37 weeks. baby Alice came that Tuesday morning. I took some light pain medication through the iv untill the back labor started. then I went for the epi. highly recommend it. 
the thing with high blood pressure is that they will put you on magnesium, which also means you will have a catheter. which is actually great becuase when you are in active labor and in pain you dont have to worry about going to the bathroom. that was a plus for me. but that also means you wont be able to walk around. the magnesium will make you feel like utter crap. over hot and shaky. and there will be a weird taste in the back of your mouth but that fades after a while. my tip suck on ice. it will help you feel cool and keep you distracted from the taste.

My first child I was induced for high blood pressure. I went in on Sunday  around 4 pm and my son wasn’t born until 12:07 Tuesday morning. Saying that though I didn’t go into active labor until (having contractions every 2/3 minutes) Monday night at 11. Up till that point I felt amazing, finally asked for pain meds they recommend for me to take a shower while they called the Dr.  My water broke in the shower and it was to late for pain meds.
For some people it takes awhile for the induction to kick in for others it goes quicker but don’t be nervous it’s not going as fast or it going faster then you thought it would. Some people have bad contractions , some people don’t just do what feels right for you. If you think you want epidural ask for it.

I was induced on Friday at 40+3 for Cholestasis. I’m now on hour 37 and my last check 12 hours ago I was 3cm (granted I wasn’t dilated at all when I was admitted). Some inductions move quite quickly and some are very slow, so my advice is just be patient and go with the flow!

My sister in law was induced 2 days ago at 37 weeks for high blood pressure. It took about 25 hours from the start until the baby being born, but she did dilate to a 10 and deliver her daughter last night! It’s gonna take some patience. Good luck!
