croup scare

2 nights ago my son developed croup, that was the most terrifying thing I've ever witnessed in my entire life. so my husband and I put our 15 month old son to bed and we were watching tv. 1 hour after we put him to sleep we heard a loud noise over the monitor which sounded like a dog barking so we just ignored it thinking there was a dog outside his room going for a walk or soemthing. 1 hour after that we hear the "dog barking" again, my son talking, and a baby crying all at the same time. the crying sounded different and so did the talking. we thought the signal on the monitor got crossed but it scared us so I went to check on him I opened the door it's pitch black and it sounds like multiple babies in the room with a dog I've never heard anythig like this I thought it was some kind of alien or ghost. I immediately turn on the night light and pick him up he was suffocating in his crib trying to breathe and cry and I guess communicate with us. he wouldn't stop coughing like a bark I looked at him trying to pat his back in a panic and it looked as if the life and fat and blood was literally being sucked out of his face with a straw but I think it was just an illusion. underr his eyes were purple and he was gasping for air. I thought either he was gonna die in my arms or he was gonna be in one hospital rokm while i was in another in labor not there for him. I was so distraught. we took him to the hospital the gsve him steroids and he was running a fever of 103. we were up all night with him. he woke up every half hour and puked on me 3 times. We kept him upright for the whole night. That was the worst night of my life. It's day 2 now and he is doing so much better it just sounds like a cold now. Just wanted to share my experience. Hope non of you have to witness something like that.
